Harley-Davidson iOS Connect Service
Harley-Davidson Connect is a premium service within the Harley-Davidson mobile app providing security and real-time bike status monitoring.
Role: Design Director
Background
Harley-Davidson, to modernize its fleet and cater to a younger audience, was on the brink of introducing its inaugural electric bike. To complement this offering and appeal to a wider audience, they sought to launch an online service. Although initially designed for electric bike owners, this service would also be available as a premium option for those with traditional motorcycles.
Real-time bike status
The main screens for both the electric bike (left) and conventional bike (right) provide users with all the essential information needed to take action, start riding, or prepare for a ride. Given the importance of quick comprehension, ensuring the information was easily scannable was a key priority.
Bike Security
The H-D Connect service includes a security feature that notifies riders through push notifications whenever their bike's location changes. This allows them to quickly confirm whether the bike is safe or has been stolen. If the app fails to detect or notify any change in location, riders can manually report the bike as stolen.
H-D Connect service activation
We designed a step-by-step activation process indicating every detail of the process to the rider. As this was something new, being very clear was paramount.
The design of the H-D Connect service took about 11-12 months. There were many people involved in the process, but what made this special was the collaboration between Harley-Davidson and the agency, MullenLowe Profero – it was one of the best collaborations I’ve been part of.
